KUCHING, Oct 31: Sarawak occupies a special place in the hearts of Sarawakians.

Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang declared this is true because of Sarawakians’ ready acceptance of other races and religions.

“We all know that in Sarawak, people of different religions and races live in peace and harmony. We respect each other’s faith and value all humanity regardless of race and religion.

“We celebrate so many special days together and visit our friends during festivities like Deepavali, Gawai, Hari Raya, Christmas, Chinese New Year and so on and so forth. There is much joy in our shared diversity.

“This is also why Sarawak holds a very special place in all Sarawakians’ hearts, whether we are here or in a land far away overseas.

“We are all united in our aim to do our best for the people in our communities,” Lo stated while attending the Majlis Rohani Tempatan Bahai Padawan event celebrating the bicentennial Birth of the Bab on Tuesday.

Lo observed there are Bahai communities in Kuching and Padawan.

“Today, Bahais all over Sarawak are celebrating the birthday of the Bab, the forerunner of the Bahai faith two hundred years ago.”

He hoped with the combined efforts of the people, Sarawakians of all religions, races and backgrounds will be well served. — DayakDaily
