KUCHING, April 16: The Federation of Chinese Associations Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions today contributed a total of 200 bags of rice and 200 boxes of face mask to Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Batu Kitang service centre, in efforts to help those in need during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang said the contribution, including other food and relief items received, will be distributed to those who are under quarantine order by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Batu Kitang constituency and the surrounding areas.
“Everyday, about four to 12 families in Batu Kitang constituency and the surrounding areas have been put under the quarantine order by the Ministry of Health (MOH).
“They are being quarantined not because they are found positive for Covid-19, but for being a close contact to a positive Covid-19 individual. I think this is a good move in order to protect other people and to ensure the safety of everyone,” he said.
Lo told this to reporters after receiving the contribution from the Federation of Chinese Associations Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions representative, at the SUPP Batu Kitang N13 service centre in 6th Mile, here today.
He also assured that food and relief items will be managed properly and distributed to those in dire need.
Meanwhile, Lo called on for all Sarawakians to stay united and continue to support the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to ensure a stronger voice in protecting Sarawak’s rights.
He said it is imperative that Sarawakians be united or else Sarawak would become like what happened in Sabah.
According to Lo, when Sarawak got the RM3.9 billion sales tax on petroleum products, Sabah did not get even a single sen and they also supported the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.
“Why do they not get it, but we did? This is because Sarawak is united under one umbrella under GPS. This is what is important,” he added. — DayakDaily
