KUCHING, Feb 9: Belaga Assemblyman Datuk Liwan Lagang hopes that all those living within 10km radius from the three affected areas in Belaga to be given compulsory swab test to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the district.

He said all residents in the three lockdown areas, namely Uma Badeng, Sekapan Panjang longhouse and SK Airport, Belaga have been tested.

“I’m going to Belaga this afternoon to see the implementation of the swab test affecting other villages in the vicinity of the three locked down areas,” Liwan told DayakDaily today before flying off to Bintulu and thereafter to Belaga.

Besides overseeing smooth implementation of swab test in the affected area, Liwan who is also Assistant Minister of Utilities (Rural Electrification) said he also wanted to check on the food basket distribution in the affected areas.

“So far, the distribution of the food baskets has been done smoothly by the Welfare Department with the assistance from the district office and Rela personnel,” he said.

Liwan added that the total lock down in the affected areas and those nearby villages was necessary to curb the spread of the corona virus from spreading to other villages in the vast district.

The three affected areas were imposed with total lock down order since Saturday (Feb 6) after some Covid-19 positive cases were detected from there. — DayakDaily
