KUCHING, Feb 8: The Lions Club of Kuching Kota Sentosa today distributed festive supplies to 150 families and organisations today in conjunction with the upcoming Lunar New Year.
The annual New Year Charity Distribution ceremony was held at the Kenyalang Park Community Association (KPCA) Recreational Centre and officiated by Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen.
Among the recipients were SJK Chung Hua No. 6, SMK Kuching Town No. 1, SMK Sungai Tapang, Carnation Club, Kenyalang Park Community Association, and the NKF Dialysis Centre in Samarahan.
Speaking at the event, Chong said the charity distribution is a regular initiative by the Lions Club of Kuching Kota Sentosa, which he has attended several times.
He noted with satisfaction the strong turnout of Leo Club members, whose numbers exceeded those of the Lions Club members.
“Every organisation needs young blood and fresh energy. Without succession, there will be a generational gap,” he said, adding that it was encouraging to see the younger generation continuing charitable efforts.
He further pledged to continue providing support, both financial and otherwise, within his capacity. — DayakDaily
