The support for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) signifies a commitment to political and economic stability in Sarawak.

The holistic development demonstrated by the Sarawak government under the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and GPS reflects comprehensive and proven progress. GPS also remains a ‘kingmaker’ in the formation of the upcoming federal government.

As such, GPS is expected to secure a simple majority in the upcoming election, with Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) likely to retain all contested seats.

In addition, intense competition is anticipated against Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) in the next Sarawak election. However, PRS’s open and democratic stance in contesting all party positions during its Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) is expected to restore grassroots members’ and voters’ trust, paving the way for the party to reclaim lost seats.

Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP), meanwhile, is expected to remain relevant as a strong opposition compared to other Pakatan Harapan components, owing to its solid structure.

Local opposition parties, on the other hand, are predicted to struggle to unite under a single banner due to differing policies, aspirations, and objectives. Their ‘seasonal’ nature further compounds the challenge, making it unlikely for them to secure any seats in this election.
