SARIKEI, Dec 9: Sarawak is on the right track to achieve greater economic prosperity under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, said Kuala Rajang incumbent Datu Len Talif Saleh.

He pointed out that Abang Johari has been able to pursue the policies he has introduced due to his ability to search for new sources of income.

“He delivers what he promised. And what is most important is the current pollical stability that we are experiencing in Sarawak, which encourages investors to come here. There is no point to be rich but living in turmoil.

“As a matter of fact, we have experienced 22 months of uncertainty under the Pakatan Harapan-led Federal government. This is not good for our economic growth, which takes time to implement,” Len told SMA’s (Sarawak Multimedia Authority) Nuju Digital at his service centre here yesterday.

He believed that under Abang Johari’s steady leadership, Sarawak would be able to achieve high-income status by 2030.

“Everything we plan takes about 10 years to materialise. So, what we plan now will take time to bear fruit. And I believed that Sarawak can achieve its goal to become a high-income economy by 2030 through the digital economy as envisioned by the chief minister,” he said.

Len said that currently, Kuala Rajang, which he represented in the last two terms, will become a gateway to the central region due to its strategic location.

“We have the port at Tanjung Manis. Additionally, we also have an airport and a good road network to the surrounding areas.

“And soon, Tanjung Manis will be connected to Sarikei with the construction of a 17km road and a bridge which would be completed in a few years. This will be a massive infrastructure boost for Kuala Rajang and the whole of Sarikei,” he said.

On communication and internet connectivity, Len applauded the efforts of the Sarawak government in linking rural areas to provide better access for the people.

“For Kuala Rajang, we are blessed as we are located near Sarikei Town, and so, most of the longhouses and the villages are now connected to the internet.

“And this communication, especially through the internet, is crucial, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic, as it helps people to get things done online without much hassle,” he added. — DayakDaily
