KUCHING, June 30: Land titles issued under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code would remain forever as long as there are moons and stars, says Sarawak Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development Datu Len Talif Salleh.

“Landowners are also not subject to annual land tax, cost involving the land survey and preparation of land title, and are also exempted from land premiums,” he said.

Len Talif said this during the handing over ceremony of land titles under Section 18 to residents of Kampung Tradisi Kampung Endap, at Kota Samarahan Civic Centre, today.

He said the Sarawak government always recognises and will defend the rights of the people over their Native Customary Rights (NCR) land if their claim is valid according to the law.

To date, he added, a total of 56,849 residential lots from 386 villages throughout Sarawak have been measured. Of the total, 53,526 lots have already been issued title deeds.

Meanwhile, a total of 353 residents from Kampung Endap, Kampung Pinang and Tanah Puteh in Kota Samarahan have received their land titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code.

Also present during the ceremony were Kota Samarahan MP Datuk Rubiah Wang and Muara Tuang assemblyman Dato Idris Buang. — DayakDaily
