KUCHING, Feb 4: Members of the legal fraternity attended a special congregation service at St Thomas Cathedral to pray and usher in the new legal year of 2023 this morning.

Lawyer and organising chairman of the special congregation, Desmond Sahathevan, says the service was held for the members of the legal fraternity, including judges, judicial officers and lawyers.

“The service is to bless the coming year in the legal profession and to give blessings on what is right and just for the people we represent and members of the public,” he said.

Desmond disclosed this to reporters after the congregation services ended.

“This is the third time that such a service is held at St Thomas Cathederal, and attended by 60 members of the legal fraternity,” he said.

The congregation service was led by the cathedral clergies, the Dean and the Reverend Kho Thong Meng. The Reverend Canon Michael Woods gave the sermon and the final blessing by the assistant bishop of Kuching, the Right Reverend Nelson Ugas Bulang. — DayakDaily
