KUCHING, Aug 31: Learn from history, live in the present, and move forward—these were the words said by Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Dato Seri Tiong King Sing in his National Day 2025 message.

In a Facebook post, Tiong said that history serves as a reminder that harmony among communities and the exchange of cultures are the cornerstones of national unity.

The Bintulu MP added that Malaysia’s achievements, past and present, were made possible through the collective struggles and perseverance of the country’s forebears across all communities and that it is the collective responsibility of all to uphold and safeguard this spirit of unity.

“As the Negaraku anthem is sung and the Jalur Gemilang flies high, let us remember that our country, Malaysia, has gone through a long and winding journey.

“Blessed with land rich in natural resources and enriched by cultural diversity, we stand united in preserving a heritage admired by the world,” said Tiong, who is also the assemblyman for Dudong.

“As the river of history flows endlessly, sometimes calm and sometimes turbulent, our destiny lies in our own hands as citizens. I truly hope that all of us, as Malaysians, will shoulder this responsibility together, contributing our talents and skills to the nation’s development and economic growth.

“Let us continue to celebrate our beloved country with pride, work towards lasting prosperity, and pray for a brighter future for Malaysia, blessed with harmony, prosperity, and strength,” he said.

Meanwhile, Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi reminded all Malaysians that living in harmony and patriotism and love for the country should guide their actions and decisions, fostering progress and solidarity.

“Together, let us ignite the spirit of independence and drive the success of Malaysia Madani for the future of our beloved nation,” said Nanta, who is also Kapit MP, in a Facebook post. — DayakDaily
