KUCHING, Jan 6: The Leadership Institute of Sarawak Civil Service (LISCS) construction project in Santubong and the Petra Jaya sports facilities project, which includes a golf driving range, are on track for completion by June 2026.
The update was announced following a working visit by Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki to both project sites on Monday (Jan 5) to review the progress and current status of the developments.
Abu Bakar said Phase One of the LISCS project in Santubong is nearing completion, while Phase Two, covering furniture installation and interior design works, is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2026.
As chairman of LISCS, he has set July 2026 as the target for the institute to begin operations once the project is fully completed.
“Once completed, the institute will serve as a conducive training campus for civil servants, equipped with comprehensive facilities such as lecture rooms, halls, auditoriums, participant accommodation and other supporting amenities,” he said in a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news.
Meanwhile, the Petra Jaya golf training facility is also expected to be completed by June 2026.
“The facility will function as a training centre aimed at nurturing and developing young golf talent at the grassroots level, supported by more comprehensive training infrastructure,” he explained.
He stressed the importance of regular site monitoring to ensure that all government projects are implemented efficiently, comply with specifications and deliver long-term benefits to the community.
“The Sarawak Government is committed to ensuring that both projects are executed according to plan and provide lasting value to the local population,” he added. — DayakDaily
