MIRI, May 20: The Lawas STOLPort will be temporary closed for two days, starting from today (May 20) until May 22, to clear up the debris and mud on the runway as a result of the recent floods which hit the area.

This was announced by Minister of Transport Sarawak Datuk Lee Kim Shin on Thursday.

However, the terminal is not affected since it is located on higher ground.

Lee added that the clearing works for runways would normally take about two days to complete but subject to the amount of debris and mud to be cleared and cleaned, and if the weather permits.

With the temporary closure of Lawas STOLPort from May 20 until May 22, the total number of flights and passengers affected are 30 and 324 respectively.

In this regard, the affected passengers are advised to contact MASwings Sdn Bhd at this toll free number 1300-88-3000 to get more details on the status of their flights and tickets including request for flight changes or refund subject to the terms and conditions of the tickets fare. — DayakDaily
