KUCHING, Aug 27: Senator Robert Lau Hui Yew recently distributed food baskets to the needy students in a few schools in Sibu Division.
According to Lau in a statement today, the contribution was part of the RM300,000 fund given by the federal government through a senator.
The symbolic handing out ceremony of the food baskets was held at SK St. Rita, SJK (C) Su Lai and SJK (C) Sacred Heart Chinese, and most of the recipients comprised students who are registered with Bantuan Kumpulan Wang Amanah Pelajar Miskin (KWAPM).
He also distributed the food baskets to students at SJK (C) Uk Daik on Aug 25.
At the same time, Lau also conveyed his gratitude to the federal government for giving out the allocation, which is very much needed especially by the lower income group.
He also hoped that more of such allocations will be coming from the federal government in the future. — DayakDaily
