Lau defends Lanang with 14,546 majority

SIBU, May 10: Democratic Action Party’s (DAP) Alice Lau as expected has won Lanang seat with an overwhelming majority of 14,546 votes.

Lau defeated challenger Kelvin Kong from Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) in a straight fight by garnering 29,905 votes against Kong’s 15,359 votes.

Meanwhile, Priscilla Lau of Sarawak Peace Party only obtained 628 votes, losing her deposit.


There were in total 45,892 voters who turned up to vote in Lanang constituency which consists of Bukit Assek and Dudong state seats.

For this election, the voter turnout was as high as 74.9 per cent.

The total number of voters in the area is 61,973 votes. — DayakDaily
