Late Mutang Tagal’s coffin arrives in Miri, begins solemn final journey

MIRI, May 12: The coffin carrying the remains of the late Dewan Negara president Datuk Mutang Tagal has arrived at the BEM Church Miri at Jalan Airport, marking the solemn beginning of his final journey.

The atmosphere at the church was filled with reverence and solemnity as family, friends, and community members gathered to pay their respects and honour Mutang’s legacy.

The casket carrying his remains arrived at Miri Airport promptly at 10.40am, transported by the Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) aircraft from Subang Airport Kuala Lumpur.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas; Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration, and Project Monitoring) and funeral coordinator Datuk Gerawat Gala; Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin; Minister for Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Sarawak Datuk Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom; Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew; former Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri George Chan Hong Nam; and former federal minister Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui were among those present.

Mutang passed away on May 10, shortly after being hospitalised at the National Heart Institute Kuala Lumpur (IJN) since May 6. — DayakDaily
