KUCHING, Oct 26: Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president Datuk Larry Sng will contest under the party’s banner in the 15th General Election (GE15) which polls on Nov 19.
Sng, in a social media post today said the party has its roots in Sarawak and Sabah and as such, it is important that its representation be respected.
“In GE15 I will be contesting under PBM’s ticket. As president of the party, I have never resigned from my position nor relinquished my party membership.
“This party has its roots in Sabah and Sarawak. It is important that our voices and representation is not ignored and marginalised,” said Sng, who is incumbent Julau MP.
In the 2018 general election, Sng captured the seat with a majority of 1,931 votes in a straight fight against Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) candidate Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum, who was the incumbent.
Sng garnered 10,105 votes while Salang polled 8,174 votes.
Julau is an Iban-majority constituency and according to Sng, the Iban comprise up to 95 per cent of the total number of voters.
On the status of other PBM’s candidates for GE15, the 43-year-old MP said he will announce the list in the coming days.
“All previous announcements made by party leaders are just mere speculation.
“The official announcement will be made by myself and only I will sign the watikah (candidate appointment letter) for PBM in GE15,” said Sng. — DayakDaily
