KUCHING, May 11: Julau Member of Parliament Larry Sng will fulfil his election promise by joining the government of the day.
He added that he had confidence in the leadership of Pakatan Harapan (PH).
“My election pledge was to join the government of the day once I am elected. Since I have won, I will fulfil my promise.
“I know what to do and I have confidence in the leadership of PH,” Sng told DayakDaily today.
In the meantime, he said he is still an independent.
With rumours being rife that state Barisan Nasional (BN) would soon meet up with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to discuss the position of the state government, there was also anticipation that Sng might join PH.
Sng who was former Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) president had won Julau as an independent even though he is from Kapit, another town more than 100km away.
He managed to beat Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) candidate Datuk Joseph Salang, who had been the MP for the area since 1999, in a straight fight in the May 9 general election.
Sng won with a majority of 1,931 by garnering 10,105 votes against Salang’s 8,174. — DayakDaily
