Large-scale sanitisation has covered 274 public places across Sarawak

KUCHING, April 20: Large-scale sanitisation of public places and high-risk areas continue to be carried out across the state.

Fire and Rescue Department has collaborated with the respective local councils and Health Ministry to carry out the operations.

ItsSarawak assistant director (operations) Tiong Ling Hii said the department focused on epi-centre (locality positive Covid-19 cases), epi-centre parameter and places frequent by the people.


“Since March 30, our firefighters have conducting aggressive operations at government buildings, the highest at 61, followed by religious buildings (61), 47 public markets and 38 public gathering venues.

“Other venues covered were supermarket (15), housing area (20), transportation hub (21), hotels (6) and one factory,” he said in a statement.

To date, the state Fire and Rescue have carried out 274 operations statewide in Kuching (93), Miri (64), Limbang (24), Bintulu (22), Samarahan (20), Sarikei (19), Sri Aman (11), Betong (8), Kapit (7), Sibu (6) and Serian (1).

“We have deployed 2,149 firefighters so far, assisted by other personnel from the local councils (1,133), Health Ministry (479), Rela (165), Civil Defence Force (222), police (114) and district offices (35),” he continued. — DayakDaily
