KUCHING, April 20: Drinking langkau is not the answer to the present Covid-19 situation but getting vaccinated against the deadly coronavirus is.
In making the point, Democratic Action Party (DAP) Serian chairman Brolin Nicholsion called on all Sarawakians to register for vaccination as Covid-19 cases in Sarawak have been reaching three-digit figures daily recently.
“We have learned that many are afraid to get vaccinated as many are being influenced by hearsay and rumours. Some even believe that langkau is another alternative to getting vaccinated by the recommended vaccines.
“We would like to tell the public that all vaccines are safe and are approved by the WHO (World Health Organisation) and do not create fake news that can cause perplexity among the people,” said Brolin in a statement today.
Langkau is a potent locally brewed liquor.
Brolin stressed that WHO is a world organization which tries to ensure that all are protected and immunised against Covid-19. To do this, WHO helps nations set up immunisation thorough security frameworks and applies exacting global principles to control them.
Together with researchers from around the world, WHO specialists direct progress checking to ensure that immunisations are effective, he added.
“Therefore, instead of listening to hearsay and rumours, we encourage the public to get the doctor’s consultation,” said Brolin who is also DAP Sarawak chief Chong Chieng Jen’s special assistant.
He said DAP Serian is currently helping the public to register for the vaccination as part of DAP’s efforts to help the government to obtain data so that it may be able to rollout vaccination quickly and effectively.
“We will move around Serian town to get people to register for vaccination so that we are not only protecting ourselves but also those around us,” said Brolin. — DayakDaily
