Langkau drinking session ends in fight along Jln Tong Sang


SIBU, Sept 9: Five persons which include a woman have been detained for fighting at Jalan Tong Sang yesterday.

Sibu district police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the fight broke out at 4.55 pm on September 8 in front of a house at Jalan Tong Sang following a drinking session.

The suspects had consumed ‘langkau’, a locally brewed alcoholic drink.

Video of the fight had gone viral on Facebook.

“The fight was believed to have started from an argument between two suspects. When another suspect tried to stop them, he was instead beaten up,” he said.

When policemen arrived at the scene, they found a suspect lying on the side of the road. He was later sent to Sibu Hospital for treatment for his injuries.

The police had also seized a piece of wood believed to have been used in the fight.

The suspects, aged 13 to 27, have been remanded for four days by the Court.

The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting in a public place.—DayakDaily
