BEKENU, Jan 8: A 40-foot stretch of hillside collapsed at Kampung Tarahad following continuous rain this morning, sending trees crashing onto power lines along the main road.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said it received an emergency call at 9.59am, prompting the deployment of a team from the Batu Niah Station.

Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that the landslide had blocked the road and damaged electrical cables.
The operation team worked in coordination with Miri City Council and Sesco Sarawak to clear the debris and carry out power restoration works.
No injuries were reported, and the operation was concluded after the area was declared safe. — DayakDaily
