SRI AMAN, Dec 9: A total of 63 people from Kampung Pangil here were forced to relocate after a landslide affected the village, today.
State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) secretariat head, Major Ismail Mahedi from Sarawak Civil Defense Force revealed in a statement today that a relocation centre in the SMK Melugu hall was opened for the affected villagers at 5pm today.
“Due to continuous rainfall since yesterday afternoon, the soil behind the longhouse collapsed.
“Fearing for the villagers’ safety, 45 people from 10 households in the longhouse were relocated to the temporary relocation centre,” he said.
Ismail added that an additional 18 people living near the longhouse were also moved to the temporary relocation center. — DayakDaily
