Labourer falls prey to snatch thieves at Jln Market, Sibu

SIBU, Nov 12: Conned into producing his wallet to prove identification, a 61-year-old labourer fell victim to a snatch theft at Jalan Market, here, yesterday.

According to a police report, the victim said two men approached him by the side of the road and started to accuse him of disturbing the wife of one of the suspects.

As he produced his wallet to revel his identity, the suspects snatched and ran off with his wallet containing RM50 in cash.

Police personnel who were patrolling the area managed to apprehend one of the suspects, aged 36.

According to a statement from the police, a remand order has been filed on the suspect today. He is to be charged under Section 395 of the Penal Code.

The other accomplice is still at large. — DayakDaily
