KUCHING, March 21: A labourer pleaded not guilty at the High Court, here, today for allegedly killing his aunt with a ‘parang’ (machete) last year.
High Court Judge Supang Lian fixed April 18 for case mention as accused Bandang Langu, 59, requested the court to assign a counsel to him.
Bandang, from Saratok, was charged with killing Gelingi Ngaing, 75, in a room of Rumah Lumpoh, Bratong Baru, Roban, between 2pm and 3pm on July 25.
He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
According to the facts, Gelingi was watching television with a girl in the living room of the house with the door closed. Suddenly, the accused allegedly forced open the door and attack her with a parang. Gelingi was later found decapitated.
