KUCHING, Aug 5: The contractor for Package 2 of the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) Blue Line project has been praised for its initiative in establishing an Integrated Project Management Complex.
According to a statement, Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said the contractor has done well to build the complex with modern amenities, including recreational facilities aimed at providing a conducive working environment for their employees.
“It’s heartening to see the care taken for the well-being of the workers, who play a crucial role in the construction of the Blue Line Package 2. Their dedication deserves our appreciation,” Lee said.
He said this during the officiation of the Integrated Project Management Complex, which is a joint venture of Perbena Emas Sdn Bhd and CRBC (M) Holdings Sdn Bhd (PESB-CRM JV).
Therefore, he expressed hope that the local industry players would emulate this effort, as the emphasis placed on the employees’ welfare could in turn improve productivity.
“Building a proper Integrated Project Management Complex may be the way forward for the construction industry in Sarawak in the future.
“My hope is that with a conducive working environment, the workers will be more dedicated and committed to ensuring the smooth implementation of the KUTS project and complete the project on time,” Lee added.
Congratulating PESB-CRM JV, the minister also called on them to closely collaborate and cooperate towards project excellence while prioritising safety.

At the same time, he reminded them to work closely with Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd and the relevant authorities and government agencies in the implementation of the KUTS project.
The minister also called for cooperation and understanding from the public and urged them to channel their enquiries and concerns through the official feedback platforms for amicable and fast solutions.
The Integrated Project Management Complex, located along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway, houses 51 rooms for management staff, which can accommodate up to 70 people, and 54 rooms for workers that can accommodate up to 270 people.
Apart from that, the Integrated Project Management Complex also houses the joint venture company’s precast concrete production facility, which is equipped with a batching plant.
Among those who attended the event were the Consul General of the Republic of China in Kuching, Xing Weiping; Kuching Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu; Sarawak Metro chief executive officer, Mazli Mustaffa; and the management and staff of PESB-CRM JV and Sarawak Metro. — DayakDaily
