KUCHING, July 3: Kuching topped the list as Sarawak registered 361 new Covid-19 cases today.
The good news is that Sarawak is registering a drop in the number of cases for the third consecutive day, compared to 544 on July 1 and 440 on July 2.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today also mentioned that the number of individuals still receiving treatment at hospital wards statewide has decreased below the 10,000-mark with 9,922 cases.
On the breakdown of the total cases, Kuching reported 77, followed by Sibu (33), Subis (32), Bau (27), Bintulu (25), Saratok (22), Miri (22), Serian (12), Sri Aman (11), Kapit (11), Song (10), Telang Usan (9), Samarahan (9), Mukah (7), Limbang (5), Asajaya (5), Dalat (5), Tatau (5), Tebedu (5), Kanowit (5), Lundu (3), Pakan (3), Selangau (3), Sebauh (3), Belaga (2), Meradong (2), Simunjan (2), Sarikei (2), Beluru (1), Matu (1), Marudi (1) and Betong (1).
A sum of 38 cases were symptomatic while as many as 257 cases comprised of individuals who had been instructed to undergo quarantine at designated places.
In short, 223 cases were screened after having contact to positive cases, 85 from other screenings in health facilities, 34 individuals linked to active clusters and 19 detected from screening of symptomatic individuals.
The State also recorded one new fatality in Kapit involving a 62-year-old local woman who had high blood pressure and dyslipidemia comorbidities. This brought the State’s death toll to 418.
On the same day, Sarawak also reported 529 patients had recovered and discharged from hospitals statewide, bringing the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 55,701 or 84.15 per cent.
At the same time, SDMC announced that Simunjan has changed zone status from red to orange after reporting 29 new local infections within the past 14 days.
To date, there are 27 red zones, three orange and nine yellow while Daro remains the only green zone in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
