Kuching to host prestigious JCIM Sustainable Dev’t Award 2025

KUCHING, Feb 10: Kuching has been officially announced as the host city for the 2025 Junior Chamber International Malaysia Sustainable Development Award (JCIM SDA), a prestigious event recognising excellence in sustainability initiatives.

Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah noted that this is the first time ever the event will be hosted in Sarawak.

“I am particularly proud that JCI Kuching has taken the lead in bringing this prestigious event to Sarawak.

“Their successful bid to host the 2025 SDA is a reflection of their passion and commitment to promoting sustainable development,” he said during a press conference held after the launch of JCIM SDA at Baitul Makmur 2 building here today.

He emphasised that hosting the award positions Kuching at the forefront of national sustainability efforts, reinforcing its position as a centre for progressive and impactful initiatives.

The JCIM SDA features 17 categories corresponding to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with one project receiving the prestigious “Best of the Best Project” award for its outstanding impact.

The nomination period opens on February 10 until May 15, and entries must be submitted online at sda.jcimalaysia.cc.

Entry fees are RM1,200 for companies and RM600 for non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and government agencies, inclusive of one award ceremony ticket.

A total of 40 finalists will be shortlisted from nationwide nominations.

The 17 category winners and one grand prize winner will be announced at the Grand Award Ceremony, scheduled at Imperial Hotel, Kuching on Sept 21.
