KUCHING, Oct 24: A delegation from the main temple in China, which houses the Seng Ong Kong deity, will embark on its inaugural official tour to Malaysia, stopping in Kuching from Nov 5 to 8.
Kuching Hockien Association president Dato Richard Wee announced that this tour is a significant opportunity for devotees to experience a close encounter with the two golden statues known as the “Holy King and Holy Mother” of the Seng Ong Kong deity, brought from the ancestral temple in China.
“Kuching is one of six locations in Malaysia included in the entourage’s itinerary,” he stated during a press conference at the Association’s office today.
Prior to arriving in Kuching, the delegation will visit temples in Selangor, Perak, and Penang, concluding their tour in Papar, Sabah, before returning to China.
In Kuching, a special prayer session will take place on the morning of Nov 6 at the Hong San Si Temple on Wayang Street, followed by cultural performances.
“The temple committee will host a dinner for the entourage on the evening of Nov 7, featuring a variety of programmes for attendees,” Wee added.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian will grace the event as the guest-of-honour, along with other distinguished guests.
Wee warmly invites devotees and the public to participate in this special occasion. — DayakDaily
