KUCHING, Sept 2: The city is set to be the host of the 5th Malaysia Urban Forum (MUF) 2023, scheduled to run for five days from November 4 to 8, taking place at two prominent venues, Pustaka Sarawak and Hikmah Exchange Event Centre (HEEC).
In a statement released by the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) yesterday, the MUF is touted as the largest sustainable development conference event, boasting a roster of over 300 speakers and panelists participating in 100 open conference sessions.
URBANICE Malaysia, a center of excellence under the Ministry of Local Government Development (KPKT), is the primary organizer of the forum, with the Sarawak State Government and North Kuching City Hall (DBKU) serving as co-hosts and organizers.
The chosen theme for MUF2023 is ‘Catalysing Transformative Actions for Sustainable and Resilient Urbanisation’.
MUF2023’s objective is to unite stakeholders, fostering collaborative solutions and learning from best practices across sectors to facilitate more effective and transformative sustainable and resilient development.
The conference’s centerpiece will be the Premier’s Dialogue session, graced by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, alongside renowned panelists from both domestic and international spheres.
This high-level dialogue will explore the role of sustainable cities in attracting new economic sectors and investors, optimizing city governance, and reinforcing resilient communities and cities for future challenges.
MUF2023 will be officially inaugurated on Nov 7, 2023, by Abang Johari, with the presence of the Minister of the Ministry of Local Government Development Malaysia.
