KUCHING, March 18: A team of 150 athletes from the Kuching Taekwondo & Self-Defence Club (WTF) scored big at the SSC State Taekwondo (WTF) Championship 2023 in Bintulu.
Kuching Taekwondo and Self-Defence Club (WTF) coach Tan Cheng Qiang applauded them for capturing 22 gold, 12 silver, and 17 bronze medals in the Kyorugi event, and its poomsae athletes who bagged 15 gold, 12 silver, and 15 bronze medals in their respective categories.
“I am pleased with the team’s performance at the three-day championship. Our athletes were quite focused and confident during their matches.
“Hopefully, they will keep their feet on the ground in the coming national and international championships,” he said in a statement.
The team was led by Tan with fellow coaches Virtlam Umpau and Eimran Ghaffarry Mohamad Daud and assisted by a few assistant coaches and a parent support team. — DayakDaily
