Kuching, Sibu and Miri register triple-digit Covid-19 cases, contributing 55.95 pct of 706 total cases

KUCHING, June 4: Kuching, Sibu and Miri registered triple-digit Covid-19 cases again, contributing 395 cases or 55.95 per cent of 706 total cases in Sarawak today.

Of the total positive cases, Kuching reported 167 cases, followed by Sibu (115), Miri (113), Sri Aman (50), Kapit (43), Bintulu (40), Samarahan (32), Subis (27), Mukah (19), Selangau (18), Beluru (18), Kanowit (8), Lundu (8), Meradong (7), Kabong (5), Asajaya (5), Lubok Antu (4), Dalat (4), Bau (3), Sarikei (3), Tanjung Manis (3), Lawas (2), Sebauh (2), Tatau (2), Serian (2), Matu (2) Song (1), Simunjan (1), Julau (1) and Limbang (1).


Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said 47 out of the 706 cases were symptomatic.

As many as 599 cases comprised individuals who had been instructed to undergo quarantine at designated places.

In short, 557 cases were screened after having contact to positive cases, 60 from other screenings in health facilities, 47 detected from screening of symptomatic individuals, 39 individuals linked to active clusters, and three Import B cases involving individuals returning from other states.

The State also recorded five new fatalities including two brought-in-dead (BID) cases, bringing the State’s death toll to 316.

On the same day, Sarawak also reported 603 patients had recovered and discharged from hospitals statewide, bringing the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 40,968 or 82.07 per cent.

There are 8,525 individuals still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards in the State.

There were 706 new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases have been reported and none awaiting laboratory results. — DayakDaily
