Kuching, Samarahan among districts issued thunderstorm warning valid until 7pm (May 25)

KUCHING, May 25: Kuching, Samarahan, and Sibu are among the districts issued with thunderstorm warnings until 7pm tonight.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in an advisory notice issued at 4.05pm today, said other affected districts are Kanowit, Kapit, Song, Bintulu, Limbang, and Lawas.

According to the department, heavy rainfall and strong are also expected during the period.

“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with rain intensity greater than 20mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per release,” it added. — DayakDaily
