Kuching resident to serve as Malaysia’s envoy to the United Kingdom

KUCHING, April 22: Newly appointed Malaysian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Datuk Mohamad Sadik Kethergany today paid a courtesy call on Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia here.

Mohamad Sadik, 59, who is among the three new envoys appointed recently, is from here.

He started his career as an administrative and diplomatic officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1989. He held the post of director-general of the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) from 2017 prior to his current appointment.


He had also served as Malaysian Consul-General in New York from 2004 to 2008 and as Undersecretary (Cambodia, Laos PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam) from 2008 to 2009.

Mohamad Sadik was later appointed as the Malaysian Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran and then the Malaysian Ambassador to Hungary in 2014.

Before that, he also served in various capacities in the Malaysian High Commissions in Australia, East Europe and Ghana. — DayakDaily
