Kuching registers over half of 301 Covid-19 cases in Sarawak today; three deaths reported

KUCHING, July 19: Kuching registered triple-digit cases for the seventh consecutive day, contributing 193 cases or 64.11 per cent of 301 total cases in Sarawak today.

It also remains the district with highest number of new daily cases for the sixth time in a row since July 14.


On the breakdown of the cases, Kuching reported 193, followed by Bau (26), Sarikei (23), Miri (10), Sibu (8), Sri Aman (6), Samarahan (5), Mukah (5), Saratok (4), Song (3), Kapit (3), Lundu (3), Bintulu (3), Serian (2), Meradong (2), Telang Usan (2), Simunjan (1), Kabong (1) and Kanowit (1).

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said of the total cases, 187 cases were screened after having contact to positive cases, 49 from other screenings in health facilities, 36 individuals linked to active clusters, 26 detected from screening of symptomatic individuals, and three Import B cases involving individuals returning from Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor.

The State also recorded three new fatalities including two brought-in-dead (BID) cases, bringing the State’s death toll to 447.

On the same day, Sarawak also reported 514 patients had recovered and discharged from hospitals statewide, bringing the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 66,379 or 92.71 per cent.

There are 4,609 individuals still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards in the State. — DayakDaily
