Kuching Marathon 2025: Temporary road closures, diversions from Sept 19-21

KUCHING, Sept 17: Temporary road closures and diversions will be enforced across Kuching city from Sept 19 to 21 to facilitate the Kuching Marathon 2025.

In a media release, Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the phased closures will begin at 10pm on Sept 19 and end at 10am on Sept 21.

The 10th edition of the Kuching Marathon, set to take place on Sept 21, is expected to attract around 15,000 runners from Malaysia and around the world.

Affected routes include Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg/Carpenter Street; Jalan Taho/Jalan Wawasan junction (road towards Padang Merdeka); Jalan McDougall; diversion to Jalan Haji Taha; traffic lights Jalan Ajibah Abol; Jalan Muhibbah/Jalan Kulas junction; Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakob to Padang Merdeka; Mahkamah, Sesco, Samariang, Stadium, Yayasan, Kesuma Resort, Gersik and Sri Aman roundabouts; as well as Jalan Sultan Tengah, Merican Salleh/Kwong Lee Bank, Tanah Puteh Clinic and Jalan Sekama/Pending traffic lights and several other key city locations.

The police urge the public not to park along the roadside and to plan alternative routes to minimise traffic congestion.
