MIRI, Nov 23: Miri Narcotic Criminal Investigation Department personnel raided a budget hotel at Centre Point Commercial Centre Phase 1 here yesterday morning and managed to nab a man in his 30s who was found with 5.6g of drugs.
The drugs, kept in five small plastic bags, are believed to be Syabu and has a street value of about RM1,150.
The suspect, who was picked up at 10am following a public tip-off, is said to be from Kuching. It is believed that he was tested positive for drugs, too.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect has been staying at the same budget hotel for the past five months prior to the raid.
It is also believed that he had intended to sell the drugs here.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act. — DayakDaily
