Kuching logs 17 Covid-19 cases as Sarawak’s total increases to 42 today

KUCHING, Feb 5: The number of new Covid-19 positive cases in Sarawak today has increased twofold to 42 cases compared to 22 cases yesterday.

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 252,945.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, Kuching reported 17 cases, followed by Sibu (9), Miri (8), Lundu (3), Bintulu (2) while Lawas, Kanowit and Song recorded one case each.


Of the total cases, 23 were categorised under Category 1 with no symptoms while another 19 were reported under Category 2, with mild symptoms.

No cases were classified under Category Category 3 (lung infection), 4 (lung infection and require oxygen support) and 5 (lung infection and require ventilator support).

No new deaths nor clusters were reported in Sarawak in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the police have issued nine compounds to individuals for failing to scan the MySejahtera QR code or manually register attendance when entering a premises. — DayakDaily
