Kuching is green as Sarawak sees zero case of Covid-19

KUCHING, Dec 15: Kuching is declared a green zone of Covid-19 as no new cases of local transmission reported in the city in the last 14 days.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement said there were no cases of Covid-19 reported today and the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak remained at 1,075 cases.


It disclosed that there are 11 patients who are still being treated for the virus at the health facilities in Sarawak.

Out of the 11 patients, nine are treated at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) in Kuching and one each in Bintulu Hospital in Bintulu and Miri Hospital in Miri.

There were no recoveries reported.

On another note, SDMC said there were 20 new cases of Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) and 20 PUI cases awaiting laboratory test results for Covid-19.

The committee observed that there were 444 new Person-Under-Surveillance (PUS) who registered into hotels and quarantine centres today to undergo quarantine as part of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the prevention and control of infectious diseases.

With the additional PUS there are now 4,647 PUS who are undergoing quarantine at 41 hotels and quarantine centres throughout Sarawak.

The committee said a total of 39,694 PUS have completed their mandatory quarantine today. — DayakDaily
