Kuching Firefighter’s Run 2020 invites public participation

KUCHING, Oct 5: The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) is inviting avid runners and the general public to join its inaugural Kuching Firefighter’s Run 2020, to be held on March 15.

Organised by Bomba Zone 1, the fun and easy run is open to all in two categories, namely the 3km Family Run and 7km Men and Women’s Open.


“Members of the public are encouraged to join the run in support and honour the state’s firefighters for their commitment in serving the communities.

“Our goal is to bring the firefighters and communities together – families, first time runners, seasoned runners and everything in between for a fun event.

“At the same time, we can create health awareness in sports,” Bomba director-general Datuk Mohammad Hamdan Wahid said at the recent soft launch of the run.

Kuching Firefighter’s Run 2020 will take place on March 15.

He expressed confidence of strong public support for the event, while saying that the fun, family atmosphere should attract interest of many.

“We believe this event will attract many, especially with two different categories to choose,” he added.

The 3km family fun run category is scheduled to begin at 6.45am, while the 7km Men and Women’s Open will start at 6.30am.

The event will start and finish at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) building at Padungan, here.

Registration fee for the 3km and 7km run are RM40 and RM50 respectively. Every participants will be entitled to an Ultron round neck tee, bib and finishing medal.

Cash prizes are also up for grabs to those who sign up for the 7km run.

Registration can be done via the JomRun App, available for download in Apple’s App Store or Android’s Google Playstore. Closing date for registration is Feb 16.
