Kuching Fest Traditional Oriental Music 2025 concert to feature S’wak’s multicultural music on Aug 15

KUCHING, Aug 12: A spectacular showcase of Sarawak’s Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Dayak traditional music, along with fusion arrangements, will take centre stage at the Kuching Festival Traditional Oriental Music 2025 concert on Aug 15, promising an evening of culture, music, and harmony.

According to a press release, the concert, organised by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) as part of the Kuching Festival programme, will be held from 7pm to 11pm at MBKS Theatre, Jalan Padungan.

Admission is free but seats are limited.

Among the performers are Felis Catus Traditional Ensemble from Sekolah Seni Malaysia Sarawak (SSeMS), Persatuan Orkestra Oriental Kuching, Hindu Temple Association Kuching, Dayak Cultural Foundation, and The Rhythm Waves from the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas).

The Oriental Traditional Orchestra Kuching, featuring a range of classical Chinese instruments, will bring cultural elegance to the Kuching Festival Traditional Oriental Music 2025.
The Hindu Temple Association Kuching (HTAK) will bring the vibrant sounds and rhythms of Indian traditional music to the Kuching Festival Traditional Oriental Music 2025 concert.
The Dayak Cultural Foundation (DCF) will showcase the rich musical traditions of Sarawak’s Dayak community at the Kuching Festival Traditional Oriental Music 2025 concert.
The Rhythm Waves from the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts (FACA), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), will bring a fresh fusion of traditional and contemporary sounds to the Kuching Festival Traditional Oriental Music 2025.

The programme will span traditional music from various communities alongside fusion arrangements, opening with Sarawak Overture and culminating in a mass performance of Bekikis Bulu Betis, conducted by Majlis Seni Sarawak (MSS).

“The public is warmly invited to celebrate Sarawak’s rich musical heritage. In line with MBKS’s ‘No One Left Behind’ policy, the event is open to all, regardless of age or background.
