Kuching and Miri register triple-digit cases, contributing 44.05 pct of 513 total cases

KUCHING, May 30: Kuching and Miri registered triple-digit cases of Covid-19 again, contributing 226 cases or 44.05 per cent of 513 total cases in Sarawak today.

Of the total positive cases, Kuching reported 117 cases, followed by Miri (109), Sibu (47), Bintulu (44), Sri Aman (33), Subis (23), Kapit (21), Mukah (19), Selangau (15), Sarikei (15), Tatau (11), Kanowit (9), Samarahan (9), Serian (8), Simunjan (4), Belaga (4), Julau (3), Beluru (3), Lubok Antu (3), Asajaya (3), Meradong (3), Bau (2), Betong (2), Kabong (1), Lawas (1), Saratok (1), Lundu (1), Song (1) and Pakan (1).


Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said 33 out of the 513 cases were symptomatic.

As many as 406 cases comprised individuals who had been instructed to undergo quarantine at designated places.

In short, 399 cases were screened after having contact to positive cases, 83 from other screenings in health facilities, 24 detected from screening of symptomatic individuals, five individuals linked to active clusters, and two Import B cases involving individuals returning from other states.

The State also recorded four new fatalities involving senior citizens, age between 69 to 82, bringing the State’s death toll to 284.

On the same day, Sarawak also reported 611 patients had recovered and discharged from hospitals statewide, bringing the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 38,481 or 82.44 per cent.

There are 7,808 individuals still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards in the State.

There were 513 new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases reported and none awaiting laboratory results. — DayakDaily
