KUCHING, Dec 23: The Kuching International Airport (KIA) will soon have Burger King in its directory, says Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

He said the former duty-free shop would also be replaced by Senses of Malaysia while a travel club lounge will replace the current plaza premium lounge at the domestic departure area.

He added that these are some of the facility upgrades to be implemented at KIA in the next three months in view of the increasing passenger traffic.

“I can feel the crowd coming back and I’ve experienced it myself while at KIA recently. The flight was full and there were many travelers, be it Sarawakians or foreigners,” he said at a press conference today.

Abdul Karim emphasised the importance of having clean and conducive facilities to leave good first impressions on visitors to Sarawak.

Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts permanent secretary Datu Hii Chang Kee was also there at the press conference. — Dayakdaily
