KUCHING, Nov 15: The autonomous rapid transit (ART) station currently under construction at Kuching International Airport (KIA) will provide direct access to the airport’s departure hall level, enhancing convenience for travellers and marking a key milestone in the city’s urban transport development.
The Red Line of the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project under Sarawak Metro is steadily taking shape, with significant progress observed near the Pelita Heights and airport area, where the ART guideway is being installed.
The alignment for the Red Line will be predominantly elevated, with eight pier caps already installed and the ninth set for completion soon.

Spanning 12.3 kilometre from Kuching Central to the Neu Pendington area in Pending, the Red Line will feature eight stations connecting key locations, including Kuching Central, Kuching International Airport, Pelita Heights, Tun Jugah, VivaCity, Jalan Tun Razak, and Pending.
Construction works are now in full swing across multiple locations along the alignment.
In a post shared on its social media today, Sarawak Metro has advised that certain areas at the airport will be temporarily closed during the works and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused.
“Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we work towards delivering the Kuching Urban Transportation System – a greener and more efficient public transport solution for the city.” — DayakDaily
