Kuching accounts for biggest share of new Covid-19 cases as Sarawak registers 307 cases

KUCHING, Dec 16: Kuching topped the list in terms of number of new Covid-19 cases as Sarawak’s daily total increased to 307 cases today.

This is the fifth consecutive day which Sarawak has recorded an increase in number of new cases, after reporting 206 on Feb 14 and 284 on Feb 15 (yesterday).


By district, Kuching reported 89 new cases, followed by Sibu (73), Miri (53), Kapit (22), Lawas (21), Serian (7), Bintulu (7), Kanowit (7), Bukit Mabong (7), Meradong (5), Song (3), Samarahan (3), Sarikei (2), Subis (2), while Limbang, Sri Aman, Mukah, Lundu, Tebedu and Selangau recorded one case each.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said of the new cases reported, 158 cases were classified under Category 1 (asymptomatic) and 148 cases under Category 2 (mild symptoms).

Only one case was under Category 4 involving a patient requiring oxygen supply.

As of today, no new deaths or clusters were reported in the State.

Members of the public are reminded to continue observing Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) and not become restless as the fight against the pandemic has not been won yet. — DayakDaily
