KUCHING, Sept 18: The upgrading and repair works of Kampung Stampin Iban Baru’s community hall are expected to reach completion on January 15 next year.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin said the project, worth RM100,000 under his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funding, has been handed over to contractor A.D Line Enterprise today.
“The villagers of Kampung Stampin Iban Baru had earlier requested assistance as the condition of the ‘balai raya’ (community hall) was not satisfactory to serve the needs of the residents.
“The good condition of village halls is very important for the unity of local communities because villagers use it as a community centre to organise important and meaningful activities and cultural programmes,” he said in a statement today.
Joining Yap to witness the handing over of the contract from Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) to the contractor were Penghulu Jakup Buan, Tuai Rumah (TR) Christopher Chaong and members of JKKK Stampin Iban Baru.
Yap also reminded the contractor to work closely with Penghulu Jakup, TR Christopher, and JKR to sort out any problems and focus on the works to ensure that the repair and upgrading works can be completed within the 20 weeks earmarked for the project.
The scope of work includes the construction of toilets, a kitchen, and a store.
At the same time, Yap has called on Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen to also play his role to assist in getting federal funding to resolve the various unsatisfactory infrastructure problems in the Kota Sentosa State constituency. — DayakDaily
