KUCHING, Nov 8: Some 1000kg of provisions were donated to Kampung Haji Baki residents to replenish their supplies of fresh vegetables after 12 days of an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).
Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang said the villagers would be appreciative of the donations made because their stock of fresh vegetables had finished since the lockdown on Oct 28.
“I am pleased to receive donations of vegetables today to Kampung Haji Baki. There are cabbages, dried tofu, long beans and so on from Persatuan Pemborong Kuching, Serian dan Samarahan.
“These are the things that the kampung (village) people would appreciate because it has been so many days of lockdown and the fresh vegetables have finished.
The association has donated 300 pieces of dried tofu, 400kg of cabbages, 135kg of sweet potatoes, 100kg of long beans, 100kg of bean sprouts and 30 packs of shallots.
Other than that, Chen Min Trading also brought 200kg of carrots and 100kg of potato for the villagers in Kampung Haji Baki.
Lo said the third donation received today was from the village development and security committee (JKKK) of Third Mile to Sixth Mile Kuching.
“I receive another batch from JKKK Third Mile to Sixth Mile led by their chairman. They came all the way to Kampung Haji Baki to donate 100kg dishwashing liquid, 144 pieces of soaps for bathing and 100 packs of detergents.
“I am very thankful for all the people in Kuching for being so generous. Likewise, the people in Kampung Haji Baki are forever thankful and grateful for all the help given to them,” he said after receiving the donations at Kampung Haji Baki today.
With that, Lo reminded the people in Sarawak especially in Kuching to take care of their health so as to not contract Covid-19. — DayakDaily
