Kpg Gobielt Cluster and Lorong Temenggung Hj Gobil Cluster emerge as latest clusters in Kuching

KUCHING, Aug 16: Kampung Gobielt Cluster and Lorong Temenggung Haji Gobil Cluster are two new Covid-19 clusters that emerged in Kuching today, bringing the total number of active clusters in Kuching to 45.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said the Kampung Gobielt Cluster involved a number of families living in the village located at Jalan Bako, Petra Jaya.

“A total of 151 individuals have been screened whereby 54 people tested positive for Covid-19 including the index case while 97 were negative,” it said.

The Lorong Temenggung Haji Gobil Cluster also involved several families living in the area located at Jalan Sultan Tengah here.

Following this, 60 individuals were screened whereby 29 people tested positive for Covid-19 including the index case while 31 were negative.

All positive cases from the two clusters were referred and admitted to Sarawak General Hospital and Kuching Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) for isolation and further treatment.

Apart from the two clusters in Kuching, Sarawak also recorded three new clusters involving other districts, namely Jalan Airport Lama Cluster in Bintulu as well as Kampung Kakeng Cluster and Kampung Bunga Cluster in Serian.

At the same time, SDMC announced the end of Jalan Jambusan 2 Cluster in Bau after no new local infections were reported within the last 28 days.

At present, there are 107 active clusters in the State with 19 of them recording an increase of 312 new positive cases. — DayakDaily
