KUALA LUMPUR, April 15: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) will undertake a detailed study on the list of controlled items for the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) in view of the coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
Its Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the start date of the scheme would only be announced after discussions were held.
“As usual, there will be vegetables, fish and meat in the SHMMP list, but we will study other items first.
“We have yet to determine the items because for every price we set for each item will be reviewed properly and not ‘suka-suka’ (half-heartedly),” he said at a press conference after officiating Companies Commission of Malaysia’s (SSM) 20th anniversary held at SSM Tower in Kuala Lumpur today.
Nanta further said the implementation of Maximum Pricing for Chicken and Eggs since Feb 5, 2022 is still in effect.
At the same time, he reminded that any party including wholesalers, breeders and sellers who raise prices above the maximum price of SHMMP will be subject to action.
“If they are convicted, they will be compounded according to Section 21 of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act (AKHAP) 2011,” he emphasised. – DayakDaily
