KPDNHEP Miri reports 68 cases in price offences for the year 2019

MIRI, Dec 23: Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNHEP) Miri branch recorded 68 cases involving price offences under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 in this division from January to Dec 22 this year with seizures worth RM13,787.90 of goods.

According to KPDNHEP Miri assistant enforcement officer Sayed Mohd Nizam Sayed Sahari during a price control scheme monitoring exercise today, a total of RM10,400.00 compounds were issued under the Act.


During operations carried out from January to December, Miri KPDNHEP has inspected a total 11,479 premises including those in rural areas.

“A total 111 complaints were lodged to us by customers and most of the complaints involved the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering and the Weights and Measures Act 1972,” Sayed Nizam said.

A total of goods worth RM9,136,373.80 were seized under various offences with compounds issued amounting to RM89,400.00.

In regards to online offences committed in Miri, Sayed Nizam said they were still under control.

“We are monitoring the situation very closely,” he said.—DayakDaily
