KAPIT, Oct 24: The prices of goods in Malaysia are still cheaper compared to other countries, says caretaker Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), he said both the federal and Sarawak governments are always monitoring the prices of goods to ensure that no traders are profiteering.

Thus, he called upon the people not to be fooled by the incitement on social media that deliberately discredited the government because outsiders still do not understand that Sarawak is still in the development phase.

“We have already seen the effects of the federal government’s defeat in 2018, which brought a lot of harm to our country.

“Our government always cares about the people’s problems,” he said, adding that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government provides subsidies to ensure that the price of goods does not increase.

He said this when attending Song Community Consumerism and Rural Development Programme organised by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) in Kapit last Saturday (Oct 22).

Also present were Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan, political secretary to KPDNHEP Minister Ambrose Abong Bugek, Kapit deputy resident Galong Luang, Song acting district officer Harry Bruce Edwin, and political secretaries to Premier of Sarawak Tapah Ata and Morris Garry. — DayakDaily
