KUCHING, May 26: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has secured RM350,000 worth of funds under the Sarawak government’s Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) to upgrade the recreational parks in his constituency.

Yap in a statement today said this following the request of residents in Lorong 2, Jalan Semaba, Semaba Park at Lorong 7 and Taman Rekreasi Olive Garden in 7th Mile, who have approached him recently for assistance to upgrade the parks.

“The sum of RM200,000 was approved for Taman Rekreasi Olive Garden, RM100,000 for Semaba Park and RM50,000 for Lorong 2, Jalan Semaba for the upgrading works to be implemented by Padawan Municipal Council (MPP),” he said.

According to Yap, he requested for site visit together with MPP officers to the parks involved to brief them on the requests made by the residents concerned, including to prepare the design, specifications and bill of quantities for upgrading works.

During the visit, he said, he also requested MPP officers to speed up the design upgrading works for the parks earmarked for the upgrading to ensure the benefits from the upgrading works can be delivered on schedule for the benefit of the public.

“I am committed to improving the standard of living and quality of life of the communities living in N12 Kota Sentosa and will continue to systematically secure funding for the upgrading of other recreation parks in the constituency,” he added. — DayakDaily
